How fast a CPU (Processor)?

CPU (processor) speed has a dramatic effect on handheld processing, especially if optional features, such as inventory tracking, are turned on.

The faster CPU's  process data so much faster that we have been able to add many new features to our software that use this additional 'horsepower'.

Bluetooth printing results in quick wireless printing.  For most situations where sales orders are printed, we recommend a handheld and printer with bluetooth capabilities, so that a cable does not have to be connected to the handheld 20-40 times a day.

Just about any parallel or USB printer can become a wireless bluetooth printer by adding a bluetooth adapter.  For details, see our mobile printers page.

Bar Coding?

For applications requiring bar code scanning, we recommend combining a handheld with an expansion slot with the Socket In-Hand Scan card listed at our accessories page.

How much memory?

Current handhelds contain much more memory than is normally needed by ALO software programs and data.

ALO programs use a small amount of memory - less than one megabyte. While dependent upon how much data is loaded and stored, data files (such as customers, items, orders, sales history, and signatures) usually take less than a few megabyte of memory.
